Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania is a beloved family park that blends chocolate-themed fun with world-class roller coasters. The park has been thrilling guests since 1907 and features over a dozen coasters alongside water rides, flat rides, and the adjoining ZooAmerica. Hersheypark is uniquely known for its candy bar height measurement system, which assigns each guest a Hershey's character based on their height. This system makes the height requirement process fun and easy for kids.

How Hersheypark Measures Height — The Candy Bar System

Hersheypark uses a unique height categorization system based on Hershey's candy characters. When you enter the park, your child is measured and given a character designation: Hershey's Kisses (36"), Reese's (42"), Hershey's (48"), Twizzlers (54"). Each ride displays which candy characters can ride, making it easy for families to know at a glance. Shoes may be worn during measurement, hats must be removed. This system means you only need to be measured once at the park entrance — no re-measuring at each ride.

Key Height Thresholds at Hersheypark

Hersheypark has 15 active rides. Only 0 rides have no height requirement. The park's candy bar system creates clear tiers: at 36 inches (Hershey's Kisses), kids unlock gentle rides; at 42 inches (Reese's), family coasters open up; at 48 inches (Hershey's), most major coasters become available; and at 54 inches (Twizzlers), guests can ride everything including the park's tallest and fastest coasters. The 48-inch mark is the sweet spot for enjoying the majority of Hersheypark.

Hersheypark's candy bar height system is measured at the park entrance, so you only need to do it once. Your child receives a wristband or stamp with their character, and ride entrances show which characters can ride. This makes planning your day much easier compared to parks that measure at each ride.
